Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information Bookmint ("we", "us", "our") collects, why, and your rights. It covers the Bookmint website (thebookmint.com) and the Bookmint app. For data-protection law (UK GDPR), Bookmint is the "controller" of the information described here.
1Your manuscripts stay on your device
Bookmint is built to work entirely in your web browser. The text, images, and projects you create are saved in your browser's local storage on your own device — they are never sent to or stored by us. Because of this, only you hold your work; if you clear your browser data or switch device/browser, it can be lost (so please keep backups using Export or Back up).
2What we collect, and why

We do not use cookies for advertising or behavioural analytics, and we do not sell your personal information.
3Cookies & local storage
The Bookmint app uses your browser's local storage to save your books and your licence activation on your device. This is essential to how the app works — it isn't used to track you, and it stays on your device. Our website does not use tracking or advertising cookies.
4The services we rely on
We use a small number of trusted providers to run Bookmint. They process some information on our behalf or as part of delivering their service, under their own privacy terms:
- Gumroad — takes payment and issues/verifies licences. Gumroad is the seller of record for payments and collects your purchase details. See Gumroad's privacy policy.
- Netlify — hosts the website and app; keeps standard server logs.
- Google Fonts and Cloudflare — deliver some fonts and code libraries; your browser's IP address is visible to them when those files load.
Some of these providers are based outside the UK (for example in the USA). Where personal data is transferred internationally, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent measures offered by those providers.
5How long we keep it
We keep licence and purchase records for as long as you hold a licence and as required for accounting and tax (generally up to six years). We keep contact messages for as long as needed to deal with your query. Technical logs are kept only for a short period by our providers.
6Your rights
Under UK data-protection law you have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; ask us to correct or delete it; object to or restrict how we use it; and request a copy in a portable format. To exercise any of these, email us (below). You also have the right to complain to the UK's regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.
7Children
Bookmint isn't intended for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.
8Changes to this policy
As Bookmint grows we may update this policy. If we make material changes we'll update the date at the top of this page.
